Timur Bekmambetov’s upcoming $8 million Russian blockbuster Black Lightning (Чёрная Молния) just got two slick-looking new trailers and is set to hit cinemas December 31. Already dubbed “the Russian Spider-Man”, the film will feature superhero character Dima driving around in a flying car known as the Black Lightning and competing with rival Maxim to win the affections of Nastya. Here’s the full synopsis:
A college student buys a secondhand car that turns out to have magical powers. This not only gives him the ability to avoid getting stuck in traffic jams, but also leads him to become a superhero and protect the city from crime.
Sound like a Hollywood storyline? Wait ’til you check out the trailers and poster below!
Polished throughout and rich in special effects, Black Lightning certainly looks like a hit in the making – an assumption the presence of Universal Studios logo appear to confirm.
