The director of Wanted (2008) and Russian sci-fi movies Night Watch (2004) and Day Watch (2006), Timur Bekmambetov, is working on his new superhero film Black Lightning, KinoPoisk reveals. This looks like a cross between Transformers (2007) and a comical adaptation of Taxi Driver (1976). The story is said to blend action and sci-fi elements:

A Russian college student buys a secondhand car that turns out to have magical powers. This not only gives him the ability to avoid getting stuck in traffic jams, but also leads him to become a superhero and protect the city from Evil.

Black Lightning will hit Russian screens this December. In the meantime, check out the new posters and teaser trailer.
