Lars Von Trier shocks audiences with Antichrist, unveils new poster

Lars Von Trier shocks audiences with Antichrist, unveils new posterProlific Danish auteur Lars Von Trier shocked Cannes audiences Sunday evening with his new horror drama Antichrist. While critics have yet to weigh in on the monstrous graphic violence and gore, viewers were largely divided in their opinions. Von Trier himself has described the work as “the closest film to a scream”.

Antichrist tells the tale of a grieving couple who retreat to ’Eden’, their isolated cabin in the woods, where they hope to repair their broken hearts and troubled marriage. But nature takes its course and things go from bad to worse…

With Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg as the two main leads, Anthony Dod Mantle of Slumdog Millionaire (2008) behind the cinematography, and some pseudo-Christian paganism thrown in for good measure, Antichrist is the bad-boy at this year’s Cannes.

Be sure to check out the newly unveiled poster below and catch this one if you can when (if!) it hits theaters near you.
