The Tourist, a US remake of French action thriller Anthony Zimmer (2005) will likely star Angelina Jolie after Charlize Theron pulled out. The project had earlier swapped Tom Cruise for Terminator Salvation (2009) actor Sam Worthington and recently lost its former director Bharat Nalluri.

Jérôme Salle’s original 2005 film focuses on Anthony Zimmer, a Paris-based money laundering suspect chased by Interpol and the Russian mafia after he has changed his face and voice via plastic surgery. Zimmer is virtually untraceable except though his beloved mistress Chiara, who knows she is being watched and comes up with her own clever plan.

Jolie is currently in talks with production company Spyglass Entertainment. The Tourist is due to start shooting in early 2010.
